How to Take a Long Screenshot on iPhone

iPhone has a built-in "Full Page" screenshot feature, but it only works inside apps that support it, mainly Safari and a handful of others. For everything else, you can still get a long screenshot with a simple manual method.

Method 1: Full Page screenshot in Safari

1. Open the webpage you want to capture in Safari.
2. Take a normal screenshot (side button + volume up on Face ID models, or home + top button on older ones).
3. Tap the screenshot thumbnail that appears in the corner.
4. At the top of the editing screen, choose the Full Page tab instead of Screen.
5. Tap Done, then Save as PDF to Files or Save Image, depending on what you need.

This only captures the current webpage in Safari. It does not work for chat apps, social media feeds, or most other apps.

Method 2: For apps that do not support Full Page

For WhatsApp conversations, Instagram, PDFs opened outside Safari, and most other apps, take a series of overlapping screenshots instead:

1. Take a screenshot of the top of what you want to capture.
2. Scroll down a little, then take another screenshot. Repeat until you reach the end.
3. Add the screenshots, in order, to a tool that joins images vertically into one picture.

Getting a clean result

• Scroll by roughly the same amount each time so the images line up.
• Turn off notification banners while capturing, so they do not appear mid-way through your image.
• If a header or tab bar stays fixed on screen, it is fine, since most tools let you reorder or crop images before combining.

When a long screenshot helps

A single tall image is easier to send, print, or file away than a folder of separate screenshots. It is commonly used for saving receipts, chat threads, long articles, and anything else that runs past one screen.
